Play Professors runs between 3-6PM Weekdays and is based at Histon Early Years Centre, £16.50 per session.
NOTE: there will be a maximum of 15 children in the first intake.
The focus of Play Professors is to create a play-based learning environment, managed by early years and education experts. Children will have support to complete their homework and reading tasks from school, complimented with a variety of educational activities to develop confidence, teamwork, risk-taking and improvement of fine and gross motor skills.
HOMEWORK ACTIVITIES: Children have support to complete their homework and reading tasks from school, complimented by a variety of educational activities to develop confidence, team work, risk-taking and improvement of fine and gross motor skills.
GUEST MENTORS: Play Professors will invite special guest mentors from a variety of subject and sporting areas to stimulate and motivate children with new fun ideas and activities. Activities provided are dependent on the time of year.
INDEPENDENT LEARNING: Children will have the opportunity to explore their own areas of interest. Such areas would be Mathematics, Science, Literacy and Expressive Arts, and could be carried out through play in both the indoor and outdoor environment.
OUTDOOR LEARNING: It is so important for children to be able to explore and learn in the outdoor environment. In the summer months, more emphasis will be placed on learning outdoors in the garden and vegetable patch. Activities will also be set out on the field to promote the development of teamwork skills.
HEALTHY SNACKS: Children will be offered some healthy snack options (e.g. Fruit, vegetables, rice cakes, crackers) to tide them over until they get home for dinner!
